Silverpop: increasing customer loyalty is the top email marketing goal for 2010

Yesterday Silverpop announced the results of a survey it conducted in late November.

The survey of 300 email marketers found that 88% of respondents said the recession continues. Furthermore, three-quarters said it’s hurt their business.

Silverpop also asked the respondents when they think the recession might end. 36% of them answered ‘not anytime soon’.

Despite these depressing findings, the outlook for email marketing remains good, at least according to the email marketers.

Email marketing tip #2: make abundant use of hyperlinks

Including more hyperlinks in emails increases both opening rate and click-through rate.

The differences in the opening and click-through rates in function of the number of hyperlinks in the e-mail are not dramatic but still significant.

The opening rate of e-mails with 25 or more hyperlinks is 12% higher than that of emails with fewer than 25 links.

The click-through rate is 29% higher.
