I just downloaded a report containing data that StrongMail aggregated during the third quarter of 2009 from social media programs running across its StrongMail Influencer platform.
In the press release from StrongMail I read that “sharing online content via email generates the highest conversion rates, while Twitter is the most effective channel for extending reach”.
Some findings from the report (BTW, nice graphics, people at StrongMail).
“Email remains the grandfather of all social networks, accounting for more than 86 percent
of all sharing activity within direct marketing programs in the third quarter of 2009”.
For the record: Facebook is second with 6% and Twitter ranks fourth with 4%.
Another finding and I quote from the report: “Twitter posts generate click-through rates of over 1,800 percent”.
Or as StrongMail puts it: “Microblogging is the king of viral reach”.
That’s it folks, read the rest in the report that you can download here (after leaving some data).
Update October 2015: StrongMail is now StrongView and has merged with Selligent
