Experian, a global information and financial services company, has taken a major stake in a Japanese email marketing service provider.
The visitors of this blog probably know Experian Marketing Services (Experian does more than just marketing), a provider of customer targeting and engagement services and owner of well-known ESP CheetahMail (that ranked high in Forrester’s ESP report I mentioned a few times over the last weeks).
In a press release, Experian says it has taken an 88.5% stake in the Japanese company that goes by the name A-Care Systems. The exact amount of the deal has not been disclosed.
Now, I have been looking a bit for A-Care Systems via Google but did not find the link (don’t try www.a-care.jp) and gave up after a few minutes.
So I’ll stick to the press release and tell you that the company was founded in 1999 and seems to be “Japan’s largest pure play email campaign management and distribution company, delivering emails, hosting client data and providing email marketing-based research.”
Furthermore, Experian says it has over 1,000 customers and a strong position in the “rapidly growing channel of mobile/cell phone marketing”.
To motivate the acquisition Experian says Japan is the second largest country for marketing services spend globally.
